Chief Roger Muri

  Chief Roger Muri joined the Atlantic Police Department in 1984. He graduated from the 8th Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Satellite Station at I.W.C.C. He was promoted to supervisor in 1991 was promoted in 1993 to Chief Of Police. Chief Muri oversees all of the department's functions from budgeting, equipment evaluation and purchasing, to evaluating personnel and responses to calls for service, creates operating policies and procedures, hires and evaluates new personnel, resolves problems, hears citizens complaints, disciplines officers and facilitates rapport with individuals and groups within the community. Chief Muri is past president of the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers. He is also a member of the National Association of Chiefs of Police , the Iowa Police Executive Forum, and a member of the Benefits Advisory Committee of the Iowa Public Employee System (IPERS). Chief Muri also serves as chairman of the board for the Audubon, Cass and Shelby County Drug Task Force, Cass County's enhanced 911, Cass County Emergency Management Commission and Cass County's local emergency planning committee.

Prior to joining the Atlantic Police Department Chief Muri was a sergeant with the United States Marines Corps. After being discharged he joined the Walnut Iowa Police Department.
Chief Muri is married, He and his wife Sue share 6 children between them, and have 15 grandchildren.

 

 
Lieutenant Stephen Green began his law enforcement career with the Harlan Police Department in 1980, and graduated from the 9th I. L. E. A. Satellite academy in June of 1981.  He joined the Atlantic Police Department in 1986 and was promoted to supervisor in 1992.  Since joining the department Green has filled numerous specialty billets such as Defensive Tactics Instructor, Building Search Instructor, and PR-24 Baton Instructor, among others.  Throughout the years Green has trained in the areas of crime scene investigation, child sexual abuse investigation, and crime scene photography, as well as working informally as a bicycle officer.  Lt. Green also filled the billet of Reserve Liaison Officer for 6 years.  Currently Lt. Green is a shift supervisor and is a certified Scuba Diver.  Lt. Green is married with 3 children.

Lieutenant Jon Parsons

Lieutenant Jon Parsons graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy 97th Basic class.  Prior to joining the Atlantic Police Department he served in the U.S. Army as a Spec 4 and in the Army Reserves as a military Policeman.  Lt. Parsons then worked on the Oskaloosa Police Department.   He was activated and served during Operation Dessert Storm.  He joined the Atlantic Police Department in 1987 he was then promoted to supervisor in 1993. He specializes in bike patrol, and coordinating all community service programs.  Lt. Parsons is a shift supervisor and says traffic enforcement is one of his favorite parts of law enforcement. Lt. Parsons enjoys spending time with his two children.

Lieutenant William Ayers has been a member of the Atlantic Police Department since 1990.  A graduate of the 76th basic at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.  Officer  Ayers is an instructor for Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Precision Driving.  He specializes in OWI Enforcement and Financial Crime Investigations.  Officer Ayers has been in law enforcement since 1981, and previously was a Deputy with the Cass County Iowa Sheriff's Department, a Deputy with the Cass County Nebraska Sheriff's Department, and a Patrolman with the Clarinda Iowa Police Department.  Officer Ayers is married with one son, and credits his long law enforcement career to his wife of 25 years for her love, support and understanding that she provides daily.

Officer Dan Collins

Officer Dan Collins joined the Atlantic Police Department in May 1979, upon graduating from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy 69th Basic. Previous to joining the Atlantic Police force, Officer Collins served in the Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force base in Texas, Rhein Maine Air Force base in Germany, and Offutt Air Force base in Nebraska.  Officer Collins, while in the Air Force, worked heavily in; law enforcement, patrol dog handler, and drug dog handler. After joining the Atlantic Police Department Officer Collins attended Iowa Western Community College and in 1988 received an associates degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Collins is the firearms instructor for the A. P. D.  Officer Collins is married with three children.  He enjoys fishing, target practice, and hunting.

 

 

Officer Blake has been with the department full time since 1990.  Prior to the A. P. D. he was an Electro-Mechanical Technician in the metal building industry.  Officer Blake is the departments Defensive Tactics and, ASP baton instructor.  Officer Blake has received a Master ranking in Tae Kwon Do and continues to teach Martial Arts in the school he started twenty years ago.  Officer Blake graduated 121st Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Camp Dodge Iowa.  He has three children, and enjoys training with his son in various types of Martial Arts.  In November of 2004 he was assigned to the Iowa Homeland Security Region 4 Fusion Center as a Homeland Security Specialist.

Officer David Erickson

Officer David Erickson joined the Atlantic Police Department in 1997.   Previous to becoming an officer for the A. P. D. Officer Erickson was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.  His specialty was Military Intelligence attached with the Marine Corps Sniper / STA Platoon.  While in the service he served in Central America and Kuwait during the Gulf War.   After getting out of the service Officer Erickson worked at the Atlantic Coca Cola Bottling Company where he was a salesman, a supervisor for Creston Territory, and a  member of the Atlantic Police Department Reserve Unit from 1996 - 1997. He graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy 160th Basic.   Officer Erickson is responsible for training the Reserve Unit, and he is also the Field Training Officer and Firearms Instructor.  He is married, has two children, and ten grandchildren.

Officer Dennis Rudolph joined the Atlantic Police Department in December of 2000. Rudolph's specialty interests are in traffic, narcotics investigations, bike patrol, and is a certified child safety seat technician. Prior to joining the Atlantic Police Department, Officer Rudolph was an infantryman with the 101st Airborne-Air Assault Division of the United States Army. He was trained in basic infantry tactics and air mobile combat operations. He served in both operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After being discharged from Active Duty he joined the Iowa Army National Guard where he was assigned to a Medium Tactical Transportation Company in which he was a Staff Sergeant/Squad Leader. As a civilian career he worked as a machinist for approximately seven years before taking a job with the Department of Defense specializing in Logistics and Administration for the Iowa Army National Guard.  Officer Rudolph graduated first in his class of the 183rd Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at Camp Dodge Iowa, November 2001.  He was also a member of the Atlantic Police Reserves for approximately a year, before becoming a full time officer for the Atlantic Police Department.  Officer Rudolph is presently a member of the Cass County Recovery and Rescue Unit where he serves as the ground crew Training Officer. Rudolph is married  and has two children. In September of 2004 he was assigned to the Iowa Homeland Security Region 4 Fusion Center as Operation Supervisor.

Officer Marc Freeman joined the Atlantic Police Department in October of 2004. Prior to joining the A.P.D. Freeman was a Reserve Officer for the Council Bluffs Police Department, and worked full time at the Council Bluffs HyVee Food Store. Freeman was born and raised in Council Bluffs and attended St. Albert Jr. Sr. High School, he then attended and later graduated from Iowa Western Community College with an Associates Degree, and is working towards his Criminal Justice Degree. Officer Freeman looks forward to becoming involved in all areas of the Atlantic Police Department. His specialized interests are in Drug and Criminal Interdiction, Interview and Interrogation, and Traffic Enforcement. He is currently a member of the Bicycle Patrol, Combined Response Team (CRT Team) and L.E.I.N. Officer Freeman enjoys fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Officer McLaren joined the Atlantic Police Department as a member of the reserves in 2003. Officer McLaren served the reserves until being hired full-time in October of 2004. Prior to the Atlantic Police Department Officer McLaren was a student at Grand View College in Des Moines, majoring in Criminal Justice. Officer McLaren graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy's 206th  basic in December 2005. Officer McLaren is a member of the Combined Response Team (CRT). Officer McLaren is married and has one child. In his spare time, Officer McLaren enjoys hunting and spending time with his friends and family.

Officer Paul Wood joined the Atlantic Police Department in November of 2004. Prior to joining the Atlantic Police Department he worked on the Pella Police Department and graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in the 187th Basic Class.  Officer Wood’s special interests are in Traffic, Drug Interdiction and Investigations. Paul is also a member of the ACS Drug Task Force and Critical Response Team. In Paul’s spare time he enjoys golfing and motorcycle riding.

Officer Josh England joined the Atlantic Police Department in July 2006. Prior to joining the A.P.D. England worked at the Story County Sheriff's Office in Nevada, IA as a Detention Officer for one year and three years for the Monroe County Sheriff's Office in the Florida Keys as a Detention Deputy Sheriff. Officer England served with the National Guard as a Transportation Specialist.

Officer England's special interest are Traffic Enforcement, Drug Recognition, Drug Interdiction, Critical Response Team and the Cass County Dive Team. Officer England attended the 213th Basic Academy Class and graduated in December 2006 from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

Officer England is engaged to be married and has two children.

Officer Dustin Pieken joined the Atlantic Police Department in May of 2007. Prior to joining the police department, Pieken went to Ellsworth Community College for two years and graduated with an Associates in Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Pieken is also a graduate of the 218th Basic Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Class. Pieken is interested in Defensive Tactics, Drug Recognition, and working with children. He enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, and spending time with family and friends.
