From Thanksgiving to New Years, Atlantic is Iowa's City of Lights! Be dazzled by more than 200,000 LED lights in a stretch of 6 blocks of historic buildings filled with gift shops, clothing stores and boutiques. Light up historic downtown with a sparkling cider toast welcoming Santa and his reindeer to town and the unveiling of Santa’s new hand-built chair at Grand Lighting on November 20, sponsored by MAHLE Engine Components and CornerStone Landscaping, at 5:30 PM in the Atlantic City Park. There will be free horse-drawn carriage rides, hot coco and popcorn in Santa’s Cabin, a photo booth and the Chamber’s Annual Recipe Walk from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. On December 6, rally your troops and create a lighted float for the annual Lighted Christmas Parade brought to you by the Atlantic Area Chamber and Wal-Mart. Prizes are awarded, and bragging rights travel along with the two-foot trophy! For spectators, catch a horse-drawn carriage ride and visit Santa in his cabin between 3-5 pm. Then snuggle up for the fireworks, provided by Meyer & Gross Real Estate and A.M. Cohron & Son, and the Lighted Parade starting at 6 pm. Fill up with warm treats along Chestnut Street served by several community organization while shopping for loved ones on your list.
Holiday Concert & Angels of Christmas
Join us at the Holiday Concert, sponsored by Bonnesen’s Five & Ten, and Angels of Christmas, sponsored by Cass County Health System, on Dec. 7 at the First Methodist Church, starting at 3 pm. Submit your nominations for Angels of Christmas, a tradition of true Christmas spirit, to the Atlantic Area Chamber by Nov 12.
Santa & Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides
Santa will be in his cabin every Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30 pm Nov. 20 through Dec. 18, sponsored by Atlantic Rotary Club. Carriage rides and Santa’s reindeer will be in town Dec. 6 from 3-5 pm and Dec. 13 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, sponsored by First Whitney Bank & Wells Fargo.
