Ted Robinson Named Scrooge

Ted Robinson was named the 2015 Scrooge for the City of Atlantic. He will serve as Grand Marshal in the Lighted Christmas Paraded on Saturday evening. Robinson earned his title by collecting the largest amount of donations for the Atlantic Area Chamber’s 15th Annual Scrooge Contest sponsored by Hockenberry Family Care and Longaberger Consultant – Dolly Bergmann. All contributions are donated to the Atlantic Food Pantry.

The 2015 candidates included: Ali Buckner, Cass County Health System, Rich and Nedra Perry, Geis Perry Jewelry, Ted Robinson, First Whitney Bank and Tony Schmidtke, Fareway. Collectively the scrooges earned 10,607 points. One point is received for every dollar donated and one point of every two cans.

Eleanor Hoover has been coordinating the contest since 2002 just one year after the inaugural Lighted Parade.

“I am so proud of our Scrooge Candidates and our community for supporting Atlantic food Pantry,” said Eleanor Hoover. “I always think it can’t get better but everything it get better.”

The Atlantic Area Chamber would like to thank everyone who donated. Ted Robinson, winner of the 2015 Scrooge title, along with all the candidates will be recognized at the Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 6th at 3 pm.

“Recognizing all the candidates at the Holiday Concert is something new in 2015. They all the volunteer their time to help others less fortunate in our community and deserve the additional thank you and recognition.” Ouida Hargens, Executive Director, Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce said. “The Holiday Concert is the perfect opportunity to honor all the scrooges and thank them”

David Miller 2013 and Mark McNess  and Karla Eilts in 2015.
